Bangor Cemetery (a.k.a. Keeler Hill Cemetery) - Located on Route 11B in Bangor, .6 miles east of the intersection with County Route 53.

Maple Hill Cemetery - On Route 11, head west from Bangor. Drive north 3.3 miles on the Wagner Road. Turn west (left) onto Route 32 (South Bombay Road) and then take another immediate left onto Cemetery Road. The cemetery is .3 miles from the intersection on the south side of the road.

North Bangor Cemetery - This cemetery is located just south of Route 11 in North Bangor, on County Route 53.

Preve Cenotaph - This is a monument erected at the site of his death. It is located on County Route 8, .4 miles west of Co. Rte. 22

Sand Hill Cemetery - This cemetery is located on the Dyke Road 1.1 miles south of Route 11B at the intersection with the Baker Road.

St. Augustine's / St. Edward's Cemetery - This cemetery is located just south of Route 11 in North Bangor, on County Route 53.

Southworth Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 8, where the Cooks Corners Road intersects.

West Bangor Cemetery (a.k.a. Develin Cemetery) - This cemetery is located on Route 11B, between the intersections with the Bacon & Gallop Roads.

Wylie Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 8, .3 miles east of the intersection with Depot Road.

Bellmont Center Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 24, 6.2 miles from the intersection with Route 11 in Malone. This cemetery was first transcribed by H. McLellan who visited the cemetery on 3 September 1960. The most recent update took place on 28 October 2000.

Brainardsville Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 190, .7 miles east of the intersection with Route 374.

Bunker Hill Cemetery - Located on the Bunker Hill Road off Route 374, .2 miles west of the intersection with the Merrill Road.

Jewish Memorial Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 190, .7 miles east of the intersection with Route 374. From the road, look for the sign that says Brainardsville Center Cemetery. Enter the driveway on the east end and drive straight to the back corner of the cemetery.

Kirby Family Cemetery - The Kirby Family Cemetery has a stone fence around it. You pass two old foundations on the left, the last one being that of the Kirby homestead and then beyond that on the right is located the cemetery.

Lakeside Cemetery - This cemetery is located just off Route 374 at the end of the first dirt driveway on the west side, .2 miles south of the intersection with the Spear Hill Road which is opposite the Clinton County / Town of Ellenburg sign. As you enter the dirt road, bear right around the bend. The cemetery is at the end of a dead end road, on the lakefront.

Merrill Cemetery - Located on the Merrill Road, .4 miles north of the intersection with the Bunker Hill Road. (NOTE: When I visited the cemetery, many stones that McLellan said were fallen and lying on the ground were once again standing. The area had been mowed and was neatly kept with artificial flowers on several of the graves. Most of the stones are now extremely difficult to read.)

Frew Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 17 (Sayles Road), .5 miles south of the intersection with Route 32 or 4.4. miles north of the intersection with Route 11 in Moira.

Hillside Rest Cemetery - This cemetery is located in Bombay on County Route 4, .1 mile east of the intersection with Route 95. It is on the north side of the road, adjacent to and behind the Bombay Methodist Church.

Kavanaugh / Croke Cemetery - Kavanaugh Corners is a small side road (an abandoned part of route 95) about one half mile from the junction of Route 37 and Route 95, east of Hogansburg, New York.

Sand Hill Cemetery - This cemetery is located at the intersection of Route 95 and the Scanlon Road in Bombay.

Stevens Cemetery - At the intersection of Route 11 and County Road 53 in North Bangor, there is a flashing light. Turn south on County Route 53. Cross Route 11 B where the names Changes to the Skerry Road or County Route 13. Continue 2.65 miles. Turn left onto the Pickering Road for .4 miles. The cemetery is on the north side of the road which is your left.

Mountain View Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 86 at the intersection with Route 55.

St. John's in the Wilderness Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 86, .3 miles east of the intersection with Route 30. Many noted people are buried here, including Apollos A. Smith (also known as Paul Smith, Charles Minot (founder of the National Ski Patrol), and Clifford Robert Pettis (Superintendent of State Forests from 1910 - 1927), and Edward Livingston TRUDEAU M.D. L.L.D.

Barnum Cemetery - Also known as Hawk's Hollow Cemetery or Wright Cemetery, this cemetery is located at the intersection of Route 11 and Route 122. It is approximately 300 feet from the road on a knoll.

Burke Center Cemetery - This cemetery is located right on Route 11 in Burke Center.

Mitchell Cemetery - This cemetery is located on the Montgomery Road just East of Burke Village off Co. Rd #23.

North Burke Cemetery - From Route 11 in Burke, drive north on County Rd. 29 for 4.5 miles. The cemetery is on the west side of the road, approximately .3 miles south of the U.S. / Canadian border. It is directly across from the North Burke Presbyterian Church.

Parnapy Cemetery - This tiny cemetery is located .9 miles south of the intersection of County Route 23 and the Pikeville Road. It is on the west side of the road.

Pike Cemetery - This cemetery is located 1.3 miles south of the intersection of the Pikeville Road and County Route 23. It is on the east side of the road.

Ridgeway Cemetery - Also known as Hampson Cemetery. From Route 11, go south 2.1 miles on Montgomery Road. Then drive east .2 miles on Cook Road. The cemetery is on the north side of the road.

Saint George's Cemetery - This active cemetery is located at the intersection of the Pikeville Road and Franklin County Route 23.

Thayer Corners Cemetery - This cemetery is 1/8 mile west of Thayer's Corners, and 3 1/2 miles from Chateaugay, on the north side of Route 11. It is approximately 500 feet from Route 11, but is clearly visible from the road.

Atwater Cemetery - This cemetery is located on private property behind the old Atwater home (now owned by the Martin family) on a pine knoll. About 11/2 miles west of the village of Chateaugay from US Route 11 turn north onto the Lewis Road. Approximately 1 mile down the road turn onto the Martin Road at the Y. The cemetery is on the knoll behind the Martin home and is not visible from the road.

Bigelow Cemetery - This cemetery is located on private property on the Chase Road, 1.3 miles north of the intersection with Route 24. It is on the east side of the road just after you cross a small bridge.

Brayton Hollow Cemetery - Heading west from Chateaugay on Route 11, turn north onto the Lewis Road. At the intersection with the Stuart Road, turn right (northeast). I believe the cemetery is at the intersection of the Stuart Road and the Chasm Road.

Earlville Cemetery - From Route 11 in Chateaugay, drive north on County Route 39 for 3.6 miles. Then turn west on Earlville Road for .1 mile.

East Side Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Rt. 11, east of Chateaugay.

Elliott / Rust Graves - From the Fire Department in Burke Center, head east 2.3 miles on Franklin County Route 23. The tiny cemetery is located on private property belonging to Warren KINGSLEY. It is on the north side of the road.

Hilliker Graveyard - This small family cemetery is located on the County Line Road in the town of Chateaugay.

Mitchell Graveyard - This small family cemetery is located just south of the Canadian Border, about 2 miles north of Cooks Mills, on a road running parallel to and east of the Chateaugay River.

Sandy Knoll Union Cemetery - From Route 11 in Chateaugay, turn north on Route 52 for 1.4 miles. Then turn west on Route 35 for 2.4 miles. The cemetery is located .8 miles north of the interesection of Rte. 35 and Sandy Knoll Road.

Smith - Green Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 11 on the east side of Chateaugay Village.

Unknown Name - In the town of Chateaugay, turn south on Route 374 for about 3 miles. Then turn left at the No. 5 Road, across from Half Way House to the south corner of Cassidy Road. The stones are visible from both roads.

Wills / Collins Cemetery - This private cemetery is located approximately 3 miles north of Chateaugay on County Road #39 at Earlville. It is on the west side of the road, located behind a family farm, as you approach the hamlet.

Cargin Cemetery To find this old abandoned cemetery, take Route 30 north from Malone. Turn left onto Shadow Lane and drive for .75 miles. Then turn north onto Taylor Road for .5 miles. The cemetery is located .3 miles beyond the intersection with the Cargin Road.

Irish Street Cemetery - This non-denominational is located on the Irish St. Road, .3 miles east of the intersection with Route 30. It is on the south side of the road.

Saint Bridget's Cemetery - St. Bridget's Church is located on County Route 20, Trout River, NY, a few yards from the Canadian border and the U. S. Customs station. Many people buried in this cemetery were Canadians who attended church in Trout River. There are many missing, broken and eroded stones.

Saint Francis of Assisi Old Cemetery - From Route 30 in the town of Constable, turn east on Irish Street Road for 1 mile. A sign marking the site of the cemetery can be found on the north side of the road.

Sears Grave - This single grave was found underneath the porch of an old farmhouse located at the intersection of Rte. 30 and County Route 20.

Pothook Hill Cemetery - This cemetery, also known as Daggett Cemetery, is located on the Genaway Road in Dickinson township near St. Regis Falls, NY.

East Dickinson Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 11B approximately one mile west of the Gale Road intersection.

Fairview Cemetery - Fairview Cemetery is located on Highway 5, about one-half mile northwest of Dickinson Center.

Ives Cemetery - Ives Cemetery is located on Cemetery Street, northwest of Dickinson Center, Franklin County, New York. Records do not show burials for anyone who died after 1928.

Palmer Cemetery - This cemetery is located 1.3 miles west of Dickinson Center on the south side of the Palmer Road.

This single grave is located on the Studley Hill Road, directly across the gate for Hoose Cemetery.

Hoose Cemetery - Beginning at the intersection on NY Route 30 and Franklin County Route 26 (formerly Route 99), travel east for 2.5 miles. Then turn north onto the Studley Hill Road for .7 mile until you see the cemetery on your right.

Ladd Cemetery - Begin at the intersection of NY Route 30 and County Route 26. Traveling east .5 mile, the cemetery is located on a hill on your left.

Charles Blood Cemetery - This private cemetery is located at the intersection of County Rte. 4 and County Rte. 3 (Cooks Corners Road). It is in a farmer's field and is visible from the road.

Elmwood Cemetery - This cemetery is .5 miles south of Route 37 on County Route 42.

Gleason Grave - This single grave is located on 2.2 miles northwest on Drum Street from the intersection with Route 37.

Old Fort Covington Cemetery - This cemetery is located near the Fire House in Fort Covington.

St. Mary's Cemetery - There are three locations for St. Mary's Cemetery.

Wilson Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 42, .4 miles south of the intersection with the Cushman Road. It is on the east side of the road, and is barely visible during the summer.

Amidon Grave - This single grave is located .1 mile from the corner of Rock Street and the Franklin Falls Road on the left side, about 100 feet back off the road in the woods. At this time there is a well-worn path leading up to the grave.

Basin Cemetery - From NY Route 3 in Vermontville turn onto the Cold Brook road. It will intersect with the Fletcher Farm road and continue east. This road will lead you to Union Falls. Turn left at the bridge. The cemetery is .6 miles from the bridge on a logging road on the right hand side of the road.

Franklin Falls Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Gillespie Drive (formerly known as Gladd Road) 2.1 miles from the Franklin Falls bridge. It lies in both Essex and Franklin Counties.

Merrillsville Cemetery - Begin at the intersection of NY Route 3 and County Route 26. Travel northwest on County Route 26 (old Rte. 99) for .6 miles and the cemetery will be on your left.

St. Paul's Roman Catholic Cemetery - Leaving Bloomingdale travel north east on NY Route 3 for about one mile and turn right onto the Fletcher Farm road. The cemetery should be in your sight once you leave Route 3.

St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Cemetery - This cemetery is also known as Alder Brook Cemetery, Father O'Donnell's Cemetery, Four Corners' Cemetery, and Catholic Corners Cemetery. At the intersection of NY Route 3, and Alder Brook road near Sugarbush turn south onto the Alder Brook road for about 3 miles to the cemetery.

Stickney Family Cemetery - This private family cemetery is located on the south side of Rock Street Road. There is a camp road with a sign reading: "VanValkenburg 3-32-10, Paolercio Carey 8-32-10 and The Dumas Family 2-32-10" at the entrance to the camp road. Turn onto the camp road and drive in .6 miles. Park right at the Y in the road. The cemetery is located between the two camp roads on your right. It is off the road approximately 100 feet and cannot be seen clearly from the roads.

Corey's Cemetery - This cemetery is located on NY Route 3 between Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake in the southwest corner of Harrietstown. Turn south onto the Coreys road for about a mile and the cemetery is on your left.

Eells / Lewis Cemetery - This cemetery is located on private property behind the home of Angus Dan McLean on the LaDue Road just off Route #186, just east of the Railroad Crossing.

Harrietstown Cemetery - Leaving Saranac Lake, travel north on NY Route 86 for about 4 miles. The cemetery will be on your right at the top of the hill.

Kelley Cemetery - To find this small family cemetery, leave Saranac Lake on NY Route 86 traveling north, take the first right turn after you pass the Saranac Lake Hospital. After traveling about 200 feet turn left onto the Trudeau Road for about a half-mile. This cemetery is on private land behind the LEAHY home.

St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Cemetery - This cemetery is located on the corner of Ampersand Avenue & County Rte. 18 (Forest Home Road) in Saranac Lake.

St. John in the Wilderness Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 30, .7 mile north of the junction of Rte. 186 & Route 30. It is just beyond Lake Clear School. Established in 1959.

Arnold Cemetery - This cemetery is located 2.4 miles north of Route 11 on the Houndsville Road.

Chasm Falls Methodist Cemetery - From Route 11 in Malone, go south 8.5 miles on Duane Street which becomes Franklin County Rte. 25. Then turn .1 miles east on Webber Road.

Kimpton Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Rte. 25, 4.5 miles south of the intersection of with Route 11.

Maplewood Cemetery - Also known as Dimick Cemetery, located on County Route 51 (the Creighton Road), .2 miles south of the intersection with Route 37.

Morningside Cemetery - From Route 11 in Malone, turn north onto Raymond Street. The cemetery is about .5 mile on your right.

Notre Dame Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Andrus Street, .3 miles south of the intersection with Route 11 in Malone.

St. Helen's Cemetery -From Route 11 in Malone, go south 8.7 miles on Duane St., which becomes Franklin County Rte. 25. The cemetery will be on your right.

St. John Bosco Cemetery - This cemetery is located on New York State Route 30 north of Malone.

St. Josephs Cemetery - This cemetery is located .4 mile north of Route 11 on Route 37 (Fort Covington Street).

St. Joseph's Cemetery - Travel south from Malone on Route 30 for 1.9 miles. Then turn east .2 miles onto the Child's Road. The cemetery is located on the west side of the road.

Webster Street Cemetery - From Route 11 in Malone, turn south on Webster Street for .5 miles. The cemetery is on the east side of the road behind a cedar hedge and padlocked fence.
- Friendship Cemetery - A deed dated 9 January, 1950 indicates there was a cemetery located directly behind St. Peter's cemetery (below.) There are no stones and I have been told it was a pauper's cemetery, for free burials.

Moira Community Cemetery -This cemetery is located just west of the intersection of Route 11 and Route 95 on Cemetery Street.

St. Marys Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 7, .3 miles south of the intersection with Route 11.

St. Mary's Cemetery (old) - The original St. Mary's cemetery was located right behind the church on Route 11. The earliest remaining stone dates to 1859. Sometime around the 1940's, a decision was made to use this area for a parking lot. The stones appear to have been bulldozed backwards, into the woods. Some are complete while others have been reduced to mere rubble. One stone, approximately ten inches thick and 3 feet tall is lying upside down and could not be budged. It is complete and in one piece. I believe that there are probably at least another dozen stones that could be uncovered and/or reconstructed given the proper equipment and time. Remnants of this cemetery are located in the woods behind St. Mary's Catholic Church, on the north side of Route 11 in Brushton Village.

St. Peter's Cemetery - This cemetery is located on County Route 7 (a.k.a. the Gale Road), just off Route 11 in Brushton. It is right across from Brushton-Moira Central School.

Sunnyside Cemetery - Sunnyside Cemetery is located on County Route 7, .1 miles south of the intersection with Route 11.

Thomas Stone - This stone was found in the garage of a home on Delancey Avenue in the village of Brushton. It is broken into three pieces.

Brandon Cemetery on Ross's Park (Private) - From Route 30 in Paul Smith's, turn west onto the Keese Mills Road. From the corner, go 8.4 miles down the Keese Mills Road and the Blue Mountain Road. When the pavement ends, look for the second gate on the left. The cemetery is located approximately .5 miles down a private dirt road. You will see remains of a wrought-iron fence on your right. Only a few stones are visible from the road.

Santa Clara Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 458, .2 miles north of St. Peter's Oratory. It is just south of the Waverly Town Line.

Kateri Tekakwitha Cemetery - From Route 37 in Hogansburg, turn north on St. Regis Road for 1.7 miles. The cemetery is on the east side of the road.

Loraine Grave - This stone is located on Route 37 in Hogansburg, on the lawn in front of the Akwesasne Library.

Mohawk Council Cemetery - From Route 37 in Hogansburg, turn north on the St. Regis Road for 1.9 miles. The cemetery is located on the west side of the road.

Protestant Cemetery - From Route 37 in Hogansburg, turn north on the St. Regis Road for .3 miles. The cemetery is located on the west side of the road. (NOTE: I have also heard this referred to as the Assembly of God Cemetery.)

St. Joseph's New Cemetery - From Route 37 in Hogansburg, turn north on St. Regis Road for .3 miles. The cemetery is on the east side of the road.

New St. Patrick's Cemetery - This cemetery is located on Route 37 in Hogansburg, New York.

Old St. Patrick's Cemetery - This cemetery is located behind the church in Hogansburg, New York.

Sister's Cemetery - Behind Old St. Patrick's Cemetery is another cemetery enclosed in a grove of trees. Most of the plots are for sisters who had a convent school in Hogansburg, New York, in the late 19th and early 20th century. They were Sisters of Mercy.

United Methodist Cemetery - From Route 37 in Hogansburg, turn north on the St. Regis Road for .3 miles. The cemetery is located on the east side of the road.
TUPPER LAKE - (NOTE: The town of Altamont was renamed as Tupper Lake in July of 2004.) - Complete!

Beth Joseph - This cemetery is located on Hosley Avenue in Tupper Lake.

Holy Name Cemetery (formerly known as Faust Cemetery) - This Roman Catholic cemetery is located on Main Street in Tupper Lake.

Johnson / McBride Graves - From Tupper Lake, head south on Route 30 towards Long Lake. Take an immediate left onto the Lake Simon Road after crossing the bridge over the Raquette River. The cemetery is located at the residence of Thomas Fortune, whose home is the second driveway on the right. Permission should be obtained before visiting this cemetery.

Pine Grove / Man Cemetery - This cemetery is located on the south side of the road between Westville Center and Constable (Route 122), about 1.5 miles from Route 37.

Riverside Cemetery - This cemetery is located 10 miles north of Malone on Route 37.

Slawson Grave - This gravesite was discovered in June 2002 by Joy WILSON, while she was walking in the woods. The Westville Historical Organization has obtained permission to spruce up the area and maintain it. I hope to visit the site soon.
